El Shaddai Ranch
Story and photos by Alexander M. Brown |
What better place to invite nearly 200 of your young Christian friends than to the ever-so-breathtaking El Shaddai Ranch. If God were to hand-pick a homesite for himself, He would have chosen this place. In fact, I believe God sculpted this 80-acre paradise just for two of the most selfless Christian leaders, Deborah and Bryan Short, knowing all-the-while they’d share this little slice of heaven.

El Shaddai Ranch, named for our Almighty God, is the culmination of a common vision shared by a husband and wife team which began more than seven years ago. Today, God is bringing their vision to fruition. Established in 1999, this youth and family ministry hopes to grow into a flourishing, full-service camp offering everything from week-long summer camps and youth retreats to church picnics, pastoral and staff sabbaticals, and evangelical outreach events.
El Shaddai Ranch is a non-profit, non-denominational, Christian camp ministry committed to furthering the gospel of Christ among youth and family. Currently, El Shaddai Ranch offers a wide variety of church, youth and family activities, which include church picnics, weekend evening bonfires, hayrides and overnight campouts. Guests may fish in the stocked lake or take a dip in it’s cool waters. Bob's Creek meanders lazily through the ranch, affording guests a view of God’s creation and a host of hiking possibilities.

The future for El Shaddai Ranch has never shown so brightly. Development plans are now underway for the construction of a lakeside lodge, housing the ranch’s chapel, mess hall, meeting rooms and overnight accomodations.

Deborah & Bryan Short, the Ranch’s administrators, would be happy to meet with your church, youth group or organization personally to discuss the camp’s ministry and to discuss their future goals. Their mission is to provide a Christian camp setting that will seek to nurture, develop and discipline the youth in the areas of Godliness and principled living. At El Shaddai Ranch, they desire to build character and develop leadership in the youth they serve within a setting that is honoring and glorifying to God.

They believe the Ranch’s activities place an emphasis on the spiritual development of the child, while furthering their physical and emotional development as well. They also believe that God has a plan and purpose for every individual. It is their hope and prayer that each child’s experience at El Shaddai Ranch will draw them closer to the calling that God has planted in their hearts.
